Reading up on Cognitive Development and Piaget’s theory

Research idea came into my head:

“Do parents have adolescent egocentrism?”

Adolescent egocentrism: The heightened self-consciousness of adolescetns, which is reflected in adolescents’ beliefs that others are as interested in them as they are in thesmselves, and in adolescents sense of personal uniqueness and invincibility.

Mainly focusing on the invincibility part, do parents have sometime have some belief that their child will never be depressed, never try drugs, never try alcohol at young ages?

My child would never try drugs.

My daughter is smart enough to know that drinking is bad for her.

My son is fine. He’s just going through a phase.

Most parents believe they will pass away before their children but do parents think about the possibility of injury or death of their child while in middle school or high school?

Just a research idea - survey based and test to see if organizations such as SADD, MADD, and others that focus on informing parents and students about early use of drugs and alcohol and also the understanding of depression that could occur in teenagers.

Okay that’s tonight’s psychology thought…this has to stop. 12-2am cannot be “psychology time” every night for me.
